PCOS and Fertility
PCOS is one of the most common, but treatable, causes of infertility in women. The hormonal imbalances in PCOS can interfere with the growth and release of eggs from the ovaries (ovulation). If you don't ovulate, you can't get pregnant. However, with lifestyle changes and medical treatment, many women with PCOS can become pregnant. Lifestyle changes such as diet and exercise are considered first-line treatments. Losing even a small amount of weight can help regulate your menstrual cycle and improve fertility. Your doctor might also recommend medications to help you ovulate, such as Clomiphene (Clomid) or Letrozole (Femara). If these are not successful, your doctor might suggest other treatments like IVF (in-vitro fertilization). It's important to work with your doctor to find the best fertility treatment plan for you.
